What is TIDAL and how much does it cost?
What is TIDAL?
What’s the bottom line? How much does Tidal cost?
Final Answer. Is it worth it?
Basically it’s a smart-looking, content-packed service for streaming CD-quality music. Rapper turned mogul Jay Z created quite a stir last week during the Press Conference for his latest venture, TIDAL music streaming service. Tidal has been around for a while, but Jay Z’s takeover has brought it worldwide attention. During the official press conference, Jay Z brought out musical titans like Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Deadmau5, and of course, his ever supportive and beloved wife, Beyonce.

Is Tidal worth it?
Or nah? While Tidal changes how artists get paid for their work, it really does not benefit the average consumer. An advantage is that Tidal subscribers do get EXCLUSIVE music, videos, behind the scenes stuff and exclusive interviews! But, sadly that’s the only advantage that I could drum up for the everyday listener. Even with that advantage, it’s only a matter of time before some Youtuber snatches it and posts the content for the non- Tidal world to see. Mind you, the average consumer is not a DJ or a person in the music industry or even a music connoisseur. They just want to hear their song. Just as one does not need a pair of $199 Beats by Dre headphones to hear their music, Tidal is not a necessity. Most do not really care about the slight change in quality that they would experience on Pandora and Spotify vs. Tidal. There are a few minor glitches that have been reported, but I’m pretty sure some poor, exhausted tech team is working around the clock to nix problems as soon as they are reported. The star power that accompanies Tidal’s relaunch has put the streaming service at the forefront, but being a savy consumer, I’ll pass.
