Resort Life! My full review of Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Resort
ALL INCLUSIVE ADULT ONLY RESORT!!! OMG!!
Our trip to Mexico was simply a dream come true! After months of planning, we’ve finally made it! I took tons of pictures and jotted down notes everyday, so I will be sharing details of the excursion over the next few days!
I wanted to spend some time telling you all about this heavenly resort. It’s Adult Only, but Secrets does offer family friendly options.
Secrets is located about 35 minutes ($50) from Los Cabos Airport. Shuttle service is available for less though. I will say this, once you arrive at the airport and make it through customs, you will be OVERWHELMED with drivers, workers, sellers and a million other people trying to make a buck. Imagine walking in Times Square x 1000! Once you make it through the crowd, the ride to the Resort is not quite scenic. Los Cabos suffered major damage from Hurricane Olide back in September 2014 so the devastation is still quite visible while en route to Secrets.
*Sidenote- Our original resort was destroyed, so we actually were transferred to Secrets at the same rate!
Once we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by a concierge crew that offered us steaming hot towels to relax us from the long journey. They took our luggage and then we headed to CHECK- IN.
CHECK-IN: The check-in was smooth and we only had to wait about 15 minutes to get into our room. While we waited we just had champagne by the pool. One note of advice, after check-in we were going to be given, “coupons” (aka: the time share pitch.) Simply decline upfront and you do not have to go through the whole spill. You do have the option to take the coupons, which give you discounts on Spa treatments. We indulged in a couple’s massage and I got gel mani/pedi.
ROOM: We stayed in building 1 on the 4th floor, an oceanview room. This was a great location overlooking a fairway and ocean beyond. We could also see the pool and courtyard of the facility. This location was ideal for us as it was far enough away from the noise which comes from corporate / special events but no more than a 10 minute walk to anywhere on the property. The bed was comfortable, bath tub divine and all around a great room. Consistently house keeping arrived to make up the room around 3-4pm in the evening, with the turn-down service arriving around 7:15-8:00pm. As an added bonus, housekeeping also does a cleaning of your room anytime you are away for more than a few hours! A few of the other people from our group got the swim-out rooms, but most did not even use it. The pool is much more enjoyable. IMO, the swim-outs are not worth the extra expense. They do make for great Facebook/Instagram pictures though….lol.
FOOD: The food was literally exquisite! The all-inclusive part of this entire excursion really baffled me as this was my 1st time staying in an All- Inclusive Resort. Out of habit, I found myself wanting to pay and tip every time we were served. By day 3, I got used to it free cocktails, minibar and 24 hour room service. I literally ate myself sick! Every single steak, burger, ceviche, guacamole, salad, margarita, etc was SO FRIGGIN GOOD! I can’t stress the awesomeness of the food enough!
SPA: We made two trips to the spa during our stay and had massages both times. Both experiences were wonderful. I would highly recommend a visit. The facilities are beautiful and the treatments were first class. The price point for this type of spa experience is fair.
GOLF: My boyfriend did golf while here and enjoyed it very much. I did not join him this time, but the vistas are beautiful and he found the course challenging and fun.
THE BEACH: This was the only disappointing part of the trip. Due to the Hurricane, the water receded and it was quite choppy and aggressive. The beachfront on the resort was beautiful, but not swimmable. The staff told me that once you step a few feet in the water there was a 20 foot drop off! Needless to stay, we didn’t get in. As a consummate swimmer, that part was torture for me.
OVERALL: I have stayed in 5- Star Resorts, but this 6- Star All- Inclusive, surpassed anything I’ve ever experienced. The staff always said “My pleasure” instead of “You’re Welcome” which was really cute. The service, access, food and total excursion is something you must experience atleast once.

Thanks so much! You may want to check in occasionally. They are renovating at lighting speed, and who knows maybe the water will be calm by the time you arrive! I’m def considering Virgin Islands or Antigua again…..nothing trumps and Afro- Caribbean Island!
