It’s so tough to keep up with every new social network these days! As a blogger, I try to stay ahead of the trends and at a minimum, get to know the different social networking platforms that exist today! I’ll be going over my experiences with Periscope and Blab, both of which you can access through your Twitter account!

Here’s the deal on PERISCOPE

When I kicked my Youtube channel back into high gear 2 weeks, a friend told me about Periscope. It’s a phone app that allows you an unlimited amount of time to show yourself off! You simply download the app (Apple/Android) and anyone from anywhere in the world can follow you and view your LIVE broadcast! There is a Private option, should you want to select your viewers. So when you begin scoping, you automatically go live and your followers are notified by the app (if they have their notifications turned on).  They can immediately begin commenting and asking questions about your content. It’s user friendly and allows you to switch from front to rear camera anytime during your broadcast. You can see your followers’ screen names and a small profile picture. It’s really SO cool and exciting at 1st!  There is a block button handy, because I’m sure you could imagine, this open platform allows for trolls to run rampant. This is like having your own LIVE TV show in which your viewing audience can participate! As well as seeing questions and comments, your followers can tap their screen and give you hearts to show their approval for your content. My buddy below has 76 million hearts! …I have 2,730 :/

I also had the pleasure of attending the Periscope Summit this week in New York. Thankfully the conference and forums were held in Harlem! #MyHood

I got to meet the CEO and creator as well as a few Scopers that have already built a huge audience. The potential to earn income from your Periscope audience seems limitless. Ok, so wtf is BLAB????

Blab is still in it’s beta phase BUT, it’s a great way to engage with your users and allow them to truly know you and your brand. You can broadcast and view Blabs online or via the Apple app. Sorry Android users, they’re  not available to us yet. The difference between Periscope and Blab is you can invite up to 3 others users (in completely different locations) into your conversation. As long as they have a camera that will allow for a live feed, they can visually join your conversation! You can take questions from guests and the moderator can allow them to join for the entirety of your conversation, or simply for a segment!
