A dose of Monday PRIDE!
This was a note that I wrote to myself yesterday before church. As I lay in bed scrolling through my social media feeds, I noticed that Facebook created a Gay Pride app that allows users to put a rainbow over any selected picture. This was a beautiful gesture of support to the LGBTQ community. I wondered if Black America would receive some sort of empathy of sympathy for the recent (or past) terroristic attacks. I dare not wait on Facebook, so I gained inspiration from a friend that posted the African Flag over their pic and made an image of my own. Before I knew it, all of my pals were asking me to make them one too. I am thankful to see the Unity! Enjoy the Monday read! Feel free to screenshot and share!
I woke up today with PRIDE. To my right lie a King. And I was left with my thoughts. I thought about the images of that sista climbing the flag pole yesterday! I thought about the slain 9 by a terrorist in South Carolina. I thought about how dehumanized we’ve become to the majority and the image of that grown man riding the back of a Black teenage girl in Texas. I think about how many of us fail to realize the war that is happening right now. Truth be told, it never ended when the Civil Rights Movement mysteriously faded away. They just pacified with flashing lights, crack cocaine, a few tap dancing rich negroes and the mirage that we were “One country under God, indivisible. With liberty and justice for all.” I am in awe of the greatness of the legacy that the slaves left us. I’m glad America is being nudged to WAKE UP!
God Bless America and all that She symbolizes. May God give our ancestors perfect peace. The land of the Free that made Black women the footstools of America and Black Men cower and dim their greatness. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” We’re holding you to that America the Beautiful –
